Mickey Style

_w7c1607 Disneyland, Paris

If you know anything about me, you know that I live and breathe for all things Disney. Actually,  I also eat, sleep, and dream Disney, and have been doing so since my toddler days watching The Lion King in my footsie pyjamas, and having the time of my life in the parks living large sitting on my fathers shoulders to watch the castle show. So, you can only imagine my stupendous enthusiasm, when I was invited to join the Disney family as a Disney Style contributor. Am I saying Disney too much? DISNEY DISNEY DISNEY! I’m sorry…I’m excited. I thought I would take a second to underline this dream come true collaboration with my favourite Mouse, by sharing an #OOTD from our day in Disneyland Paris this past September. We had to visit our friend Remy’s new restaurant and ride while in the city of lights, and try his famous ratatouille of course (…it made me believe in vegetables again). It was a perfect park day with the people I love, reminiscent on the ones I had as a little one, and we made memories I’m going to remember for a very long time. I may not have ridden on my father’s shoulders this time, but being there all together, made for a pretty magical day. Make sure to check out Disney Style for all your Disney fashion tips, news, and ideas, and to see all the fun park/street style I muster up! See ya’ real soon!

The Crown

_w7c1306 London, England

I am not a resident of the USA, but I don’t think I need to be to share with you all that I have been pretty upset these past couple of days. The results, of what can only be described as a an ugly election ended in a way that left me dumbfounded. I am heartbroken for my gender, for every minority and group who has been severely wronged in the process, for our planet, but mostly because I thought people who share the opinions of the elected president were themselves a minority, and was apparently very wrong. Now, hate stemming from racism to homophobia to xenophobia to misogyny has been validated in a big way, and I fear we’ve already started to feel the consequences. I am tired of seeing nasty social media posts, not so funny memes, and anymore negativity coming from either side, therefore I swore I wouldn’t discuss this with you all today. Guess I couldn’t help myself. I just wanted all who feel as I do, to know that you are not alone. Our generation, the millennials, chose differently, and I find a bit of solace in that, as WE believe in progress and a brighter future for ourselves. Finally, to every woman out there, that cannot help but be heartbroken, due to what this represents for our sex, I am with you, and I feel your pain. I am with her, and I cannot help but think with conviction that if the her in question was a him, we wouldn’t be facing what we are today…

This brings me to what I actually wanted to talk to you about today. The longest-reigning British monarch, and female head of state in world history, who also happens to be my new fave strong female character on the telly, Queen Elizabeth II. Don’t mind the feminist segway as I tell you about what I’ve been binge watching obsessively, The Crown. I found it fitting to discuss my love and devotion for the television program, with this post from our time in London, but now that I’ve ranted about the election for a paragraph I feel I should try to keep it short. Queen Elizabeth is a badass, and has been since 52. Any woman that can raise a family, be a loving wife, and find time to do her job, stand up to Winston Churchill and rule a country on the weekends, is one I can look up to.  I realize the show is a relatively fictional work, but having a female ruler and this as early as 1558, is not fiction at all, and this notion bring me much pride and sorrow all at once. How can we in 2016, be so antiquated in our thinking? How am I back here again? Monarchy isn’t for everyone, but I tend to agree for what it stands for in this instance. The UK is one beautiful place. I know you can’t tell from the white houses we shot in front of, but it truly is, and not only aesthetically speaking. They’ve made their own set of  mistakes, but they have been getting it right for a long time, and for that I give them credit where it is due. All to say we had a lovely time visiting London, and cannot wait to return. I am proud to have, one strong lady on my dolla’ bills, and hope every nation feels a similar sense pride one day. God Save the Queen!…really, could I have ended this any other way?

Amster Dayum!

_w7c0942 Amsterdam, Netherlands

It had always been a dream of mine to visit the Netherlands. Now, I know what you’re all thinking, but in no way was I in it for the coffee shops, I just really love a nice pair of wooden shoes. Well those, the canals, the tulips, the museums, the history. Amsterdam is a city full of endless discoveries, wonderful people, and pancakes, really wonderful yummy pancakes! I fell in love with the Venice of the North, almost instantly…but then I started fearing for my life. As someone who’s is pretty mediocre at riding a bicycle, has no balance, and very little trust in the two wheeled invention, having my life constantly threatened by herds of them cause what some may call a little anxiety. Feeling like  Simba in the middle of the wildabeast stampede, holding on for dear life on that little branch, gets old real quick let me tell you. I’m super happy for mama earth, as this green alternative for getting around probably makes her hate us a little less for pollution, waste, overuse of natural resources, global warming…

You know what, nvm my irrational fear of the velocipede, a little anxiety when crossing the street is well worth it if it’s going to contribute to saving the one and only planet the entire human race has to call home. So moral of the story is, face your fears kids! Who knows, you may save the world in the process…k not really, but being environmentally conscious is that epically important, so please take it as seriously as you should. We can’t count on Leo and Al Gore to do all the work for us kids. If we all did a little, like turning off the tap and lights once in a while, recycling and composting, even if it takes an extra second, and yes even riding your bike, we’d being making a world of difference. Really didn’t think this blog post would turn into an environmental op-ed piece, but it did, so tadaaaaa. Amsterdam, I love you. Thank you for doing your part, and creating a culturally beautiful landscape while doing it…
