I have a guilty conscience

Jean-Pierre Braganza Spring/ Summer 2015

2014-09-12 at 09-07-46 London Fashion Week Day One

One month ago already, Peter and I headed to London in a moment’s notice after being invited to spring/summer 2014 fashion week. We spent our first day in Big Ben’s home walking the streets and enjoying the tourist attractions that are Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. Well, that and sleeping off the jet lag…not the best method if you ask me. Finally we ended our night an Nobu eating next to one of my many favourite British models, Jourdan Dunn. The next morning it was time for business as we headed to the LFW headquarters in Somerset House’s beautiful courtyard. The street style was obnoxiously wonderful and bold, as even fur wasn’t considered taboo despite the warm climate. Nothing was off the table.  I felt almost underdressed heading into the tents, as if I hadn’t gotten the “less is definitely not more” memo, but man did I enjoy the show.

We headed into Jean-Pierre Braganza’s ARCHITECTONIC SS14 presentation and my lovely husband took the roll of photographer, as I admired the geometric, color-blocked, cutout, silk, and embellished looks walking before me. Jean-Pierre’s concept for the garments; an apocalyptic interpretation of Matthew Barney’s film River of Fundament, the decay of Detroit’s industry. This came across with images of chrome and motorcycle parts imprinted on pieces like silk blouses and a cotton jacquard sweatshirt with matching skirt. Many of the pieces derived from theme, and were an eclectic mix of streamline ensembles that would be worn off the runway and into the streets. I know I would have loved to borrow that cutout mini dress with impressive lapels for our evening out. A cool colour pallet, bold lines, interesting prints and appropriate use of embellishments will surely make this a well sold collection. As we headed out of the show we got another look at the lovely Ms. Dunn making her way through Somerset House hoarded by photographers. We then headed back to the St. Martin’s Lane hotel for a quick change and prepared for the day’s next show… 2014-09-12 at 09-10-14 2014-09-12 at 09-06-05 2014-09-12 at 09-07-05 2014-09-12 at 09-08-03 2014-09-12 at 09-03-31 2014-09-12 at 09-09-55 2014-09-12 at 09-05-26 2014-09-12 at 09-12-49 2014-09-12 at 09-04-57 2014-09-12 at 09-09-04 2014-09-12 at 09-12-18 2014-09-12 at 09-06-06 2014-09-12 at 09-14-33 2014-09-12 at 10-17-07 2014-09-12 at 10-11-47 2014-09-12 at 10-12-09 2014-09-12 at 10-12-26 2014-09-12 at 10-13-19 2014-09-12 at 10-18-38 2014-09-12 at 10-16-56 2014-09-12 at 10-19-27 2014-09-12 at 10-21-48 2014-09-12 at 10-22-20 2014-09-12 at 10-24-38 2014-09-12 at 10-27-54 To’ally Bozzin’ ‘Bout Bein’ Hea’
