What can I say, I have the need, the need for speed! This past Grand Prix weekend we had the immense pleasure to be invited by Ferrari, to come visit their paddock and live the full Ferrari Challenge experience during the Montreal Grand Prix at Circuit Gille Villeneuve. The Ferrari Challenge was one that was immediately familiar to me, as growing up, my friend Olivia and I would run around this same paddock, as her father was one of the participating drivers. It’s an incredible race, I was so thrilled to be back around these insane vehicles and the race day tension and excitement. There’s nothing quite like it.
These Ferrari 488s are monster machines, going up to speeds of 200mph. You forget how mindbogglingly fast that is, until you feel your heart skip a beat from the sound and vibration they produce while rushing past you, inches away from pit lane. It’s an incredibly volatile race in the best sense of the word. With 45 drivers on the roster all aiming for top spot. Positions are constantly changing, and you never know what surprises might be in store. It’s truly a spectacular show!
We were lucky enough to live the full immersive challenge experience. Rolling out from the paddock with the cars, racing down the track in golf carts on our way to pit lane, oh ya, and did I mention we got to watch the races from pit lane?! Being a race car fanatic’s wife I knew this area to be sacred, and never thought I would ever have the honour of walking past the pits, let alone be one of the few to watch the race inches away of the starting line. You also never know who you might see down this stretch of road. Micheal Fassbender being one of the drivers, James Marsden casually visiting the pits, and let’s not mention the single tear that might have come down my husband’s cheek after shaking Niki Lauda’s hand.
It was truly a bucket list experience, and I was so grateful to be able to share it with Peter by my side. Watching him in this environment was probably similar to taking your kid to Disneyland for the first time…you know, if Disneyland was so exclusive that you couldn’t visit unless you were an actual Disney character. It was so surreal and we could not be more thankful to Patricia, and Tatiana from the Zoi team for facilitating, and Jeffrey from Ferrari for showing us the ropes and the incredible access that was granted to us during this unforgettable day. Truly one for the books.

New York, New York
So…we are going to Tokyo tomorrow and I COULD NOT be more excited. The trip was a last minute spur of the moment decision to celebrate our anniversary, which means I didn’t have time to be the OCD level of overly prepared I usually like to be. Today is our last day to get our shit together before a 15 hour flight, and I can’t quite grasp my mind around the fact that we are going back to a place I always dreamed of returning. Tokyo is one of my very favourite cities in the world. The fashion, the food, the people, the Disney World…everything in Tokyo is just a little bit better than any of the other big cities we’ve had the chance to visit.
On the agenda over there thus far: a 4 days stay at Tokyo Disney Resort (YAY!), a visit to the iconic Robot Restaurant (YAY!!), go and did I mention the cosplay Mario Kart experience that’s in the books (YAY!!!). There is almost a heightened sense of reality while you’re over there, from the people to the experiences everything is just more epic, kinder, cuter, more interesting…weirder even! So safe to say, I’m going to have trouble sleeping tonight, because someone is a wittle excited. Also seriously considering dying my hair pink for the occasion. Thoughts? Anywhoo, this hasn’t been my most riveting piece, but I really should start packing! So, on a completely unrelated note, here is an #OOTD from our last trip to another very big and incredible city….
Calvin Klein beanie, Juniper & Blanc sunnies, Zara mesh bodysuit, Second Skin Overalls, Louis-Vuitton “Palm Springs” backpack and “Archlights” sneakers.
New York, New York
You know when you start writing something without really knowing what you’re writing about?…Well that’s me right now. We’ve literally been working everyday from 5AM-8PM since we returned from our lovely weekend getaway in New York, and safe to say I’m pretty brain dead. This may not the piece that wins me the Pulitzer, but at least the outfit’s kinda cute.
I fell in love with it when I saw my best friend, Millie Bobby Brown wearing it in the most recent Calvin Klein campaign. I think the fact thats she’s just warming up to puberty probably helped her fit in those cardboard stretchless pants better than I did, but what can I say, I’m never one to step away from a challenge. Besides, this gave me the chance to do that “Tight Pants” Jimmy Fallon dance all day which Peter thoroughly enjoyed. Look at that…I’ve managed to ramble on about nothing, just as predicted.
I guess if there’s one moral to today’s story it’s the forever recurring theme of “you do you” girl. You wear what you want to wear, even if that means recreating a look work by someone born in 2004 (that’s right folks, two thousand and fucking four), and it not being particularly flattering. Who cares! I got to look like a candy cane cowboy all day, walking around New York city, and I think that’s pretty badass. People are always telling me “I wish I could pull off some of the stuff you wear”, or “I love it but I could never wear that…” and the truth is that’s baloney!…the proof is in the photos that follow. Never let the prospect of judgement, the “rules”of fashion, or the fear of stepping away from the clothes allocated for your body type, detract from your potential artistic expression. I mean look at me, I dress like a clown practically everyday and have somehow convinced people it’s working for me. So don’t let any of of those little mean voices in your head, scare you away from putting on something that may make you feel magical…Cue in True Colours by Cyndi Lauper…
