NOLA

New Orleans, Louisiana

If you currently follow me on instagram you already know that Peter and I jetted off on a little Valentine’s Day escapade earlier this week to a place we had dreamed of visiting for years. New Orleans, had been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Growing up my folks used to visit NOLA once a year in February for what they claimed was a “business convention”, and always returned a little more tired then when they departed, but with great stories of late nights on Bourbon street in tow. That mixed with a little Princess and the Frog / American Horror Story: Coven fandom, and our love of traveling with eating as a main objective, I’m honestly surprised it took us this long to visit.

I had always dreamed of making my way through the French Quarter, on the search for king cake, begging strangers on balconies for beads, listening to horn musicians up and down the street, and let’s not forget to mention the parades. The dream had always been Mardis Gras. I wanted to grab as much of that festive spirit, creole food, jazz music, and joie de vivre culture I had heard of my entire life and get the most out of  it. So when that google page loaded and announced that Fat Tuesday fell only one day prior to Valentine’s Day, all the incentive I needed was right there in front of me. I used up some travel points and a few days later there we were. Making our way through the French Quarter, on the search for king cake, begging strangers on balconies for beads, listening to horn musicians up and down Bourbon street, on our way back from the parade. We truly made the most of our first experience in NOLA, and it was everything I had hoped it would be and more. It’s rare that a place you’ve dreamt of visiting almost your entire life turns out better than the movies that made it your dream in the first place…but New Orleans was that good.

That being said, through all the festivities, food hunts, and tourist must do’s, my favourite part of our trip will always be that even though we took our work with us, as we always do, we still made time for each other. New Orleans will always be special to me now, not only because of the unbelievable food, music, and the good times we let roll while visiting, but because fo that romantic week we spent there, the way my parents had all those years ago…

My Happy Place

Walt Disney World, Florida

If anyone knows anything about me, it’s that Disney makes my world go ’round. No exaggeration here. It rocks my world, makes my heart skip a beat, puts a spring in my step…you get the point. So when I get to mix two of the great passions of my life, being styling and my main mouse, you could say I get pretty excited. What better way to ring in the new year than with an #OOTD from the happiest place on earth! Creating outfits for the parks inspired by Disney decades past, current trends, or my favourite characters, is probably the most fun I have getting dressed. In fact, I’m about to get out of bed and have myself a good ol’ time getting dressed for our final day here in Magic Kingdom. Going to keep this one short as adventure awaits, but make sure to check out my daily dose of Minnie style and shenanigans around the park on Instagram…Wishing you all a magical 2018, and I cannot wait to share another year of fashion, food, travel, and Mickey together!

Hey Mama Welcome to the 70s

_w7c1019 Houston, Texas

Is it just me or did I try really hard to look like a librarian this day. While in Texas last month I had the best time getting dressed in my best interpretation of southern garb. From cowgal touches, to 70s prairie companion flair, this was the most fun I had getting dressed since festival season. I guess KidRock was right because I DO want to be a cowboy baby. This look was all kinds of Chloé inspired and I had a great time living in a different decade for the day.

Desert Dusking

Hey fwiends! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately, but all this long awaited free time has made me pick up old hobbies I love, and they’ve been keeping me happily busy! Don’t worry it’s not squash. I’m here today to tell you all about the final day of Coachella, which might just have been the best one yet. We went to the grounds early before anyone really shows up, not to enjoy the scenery, but to eat. After I got that taken care of, we walked around, had some morning margaritas, ate a little more and headed back to our place  for an outfit change, followed by this middle of butt fuck nowhere #OOTD shoot. I mean when you’re in the desert, you have to venture out into the unknown you know? Also it makes for a pretty beautiful badass background (alliteration watsup!). We then returned to the festival for a pretty great evening line up.

We felt connected to the universe and cried a little while singing along to “Home” at Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, and did what can only be described as african tribe inspired dance moves with Alexander Wang and his model army during Major Lazer. The sleeper hit of the weekend had to be Sia. That set was the most creative use of stage time I’ve seen at Coachella and maybe anywhere really. Because she’s always hiding her pretty face, actors, artists, and dancers interpreted every song from her repertoire (including Breathe Me, I cried a little for that too) in the most beautifully WTF kinda ways. Maddie Ziegler did some pirouettes, Kristen Wiig emoted, and Shia Labeouf didn’t show up. Typical. Calvin Harris then came out and put on a better show than I could have ever anticipated. Big Sean said hi, and then Rihanna came out and gave the the rendition of We Found Love I had always dreamed of witnessing. Honestly it was another solid night added to an unbelievably solid weekend! Coachella always has the greatest energy and you leave there feeling warm with hope and appreciation for the world we live in. Well, that and super fucking tired. Drinking and dancing for 3 days straight will do that to you. _W7C5828 _W7C5845 _W7C5873 _W7C5927 _W7C5861 _W7C5983 _W7C5881 _W7C5885 _W7C5968 _W7C5838 _W7C5869 _W7C6017 L1030092 L1030117 L1030105 L1030120 L1030102 L1030123 L1030119 L1030114 L1030113 L1030126 L1030125 L1030128 L1030129 L1030157 L1030161 _W7C5979 Fack boho I’m giving alien vibes
