NYFW Day One

New York, New York

TGIF everyone! This past week has been an absolute whirlwind, literally and figuratively. We spent it in New York for Fashion Week in the snow, wind and rain, and not to sound cliché or anything but…had the absolute time of our lives! Though it wasn’t my first time experiencing NYFW, I never did it quit like this. Usually we attend a couple shows, and events, plan a few meetings while in the city and call it a day. This trip however, it was going to be 5 days, a dozen shows, evening fun with friends, and no time for rest let alone sleep. That’s right kids, I was gonna do it like the pros do.

After missing the Desigual and Nicholas K show (told ya’ I was doing it like the pros), we finally arrived amidst the snowstorm, and I had to get going and ready for the Micheal Costello show. Did I mention the snowstorm. Try to look cute, let alone effortlessly street style cool surrounded by puddles of slush and snowbanks. Not what I had planned for. After I got seated first row across from a Care Bear, my nerves took a back seat and I started feeling like this week was gonna be good. That night was followed by the best tacos of my life at ABC Cocina, and a mediocre night’s rest.

The next day I froze my buns of shooting this very look, before heading to The Standard Grill for a quick lunch before Cushnie et Ochs. Here’s a tip for you. Don’t eat a massive burger with a generous side of fries while wearing lycra-less vintage jeans. Boy did I not feel good. I had my tight pants on, a tall pink pom pom beanie, and leopard of all prints, sitting front row at my most anticipated show of the week, across from some of the most influential people in the industry. If you want to know how to feel out of place kids, this is how you do it!

Events like fashion week can make you feel so very teeny tiny in a sea of incredibly beautiful and talented individuals. What’s important to remember though, is that no two are completely alike, and that it is your skill, your character, and your unadulterated uniqueness, that will get you where you are going. So no matter how many followers, endorsement deals or shiny contracts are sitting across from you at a fashion show, you made it because of your hard work and because you stayed true to who you are. Wow, why did I go all introspective and preachy again. All I’m trying to say is…you do you. No matter, in what field, or what that means to you, because your power is in your individuality and what you bring to the table. Even if like in my case, it’s just butt jokes, a pom pom hat and a good time…Have a beautiful weekend my little chickens!

Happy humpday kids! Nothing screams Wednesday quite as much as dressing inappropriately for the weather and riding in a tiny clown car with no AC all over Rome, am I right? So I thought what better time than now, to share our adventures in the eternal city with you today. All jokes, aside this day visiting Rome was the most surreal and wonderful experience I’ve ever had traveling. I felt transported back in time, and Hepburn-esque riding in these adorable death machines. Sidenote, I say Hepburn”esque” because we all know Miss Audrey wasn’t one to show as much cleave’ and navel, but slutty little me is apparently.

From the Coloseum to the the Knights of Malta keyhole, we saw it all, as this was only the beginning of what became the tourist adventure of a lifetime. I can’t spoil all the good stuff from the rest of the trip yet, but let’s just say, you’ll be getting more island vibes from the #OOTD from our next stop. Until then, behold my swassy self, not letting them beads of sweat get me down, and having the time of my life.

Gandalf is my Homeboy

I hope all of you had happy holidays, and weigh 6-9 pounds more then you did before the this turkey season began! Not because I wish ill upon any of you, but rather because if I put on the weight, I need you all to do the same to continue the illusion that nothing has changed…you feel me? I’m only trying to maintain the balance of mankind, pretty serious business. So, post family fun, gifts, and Christmas carols, my husband and I began a pretty intense journey. You see we revistied the world of middle earth, and began with Bilbo’s very first adventure, or if we are talking timeline, I mean history goes back to when the elves first awakened in Cuiviéne! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, really, don’t bother continuing on, because I am about to rock out with my nerd out. I am big on the whole Tolken universe, what can I say, I love me some courageous hobbits. We have been watching the Hobbit films followed by The Lord of The Rings films in chronological order, while trying to get some reading of the source material when a screen is out of reach. We also made time to watch Peter Jackson’s appendices for each film of course! Have I mentioned individual appendices are 4-5 hours long and there are two for each of the six films. Do the math…basically I’ve been staring at Orlando Bloom in a wig for five days straight without sleeping. I’m a little brainwashed to say the least. The few people I have seen since beginning this marathon, I cannot help but attribute to a kind from Middle-earth. My daddy is a hobbit, while my husband who was originally a man, is beginning to resemble a dwarf due to the extreme ginge facial hair he’s been growing. Kinda feel like I’ve been spending a little too much time in Mirkwood if you know what I mean…of course you don’t, you have a life. 2014-12-29 at 08-19-46 2014-12-29 at 07-43-01 2014-12-29 at 07-47-15 2014-12-29 at 08-21-53 2014-12-29 at 07-45-07 2014-12-29 at 07-37-33 2014-12-29 at 07-36-31 2014-12-29 at 08-25-30 2014-12-29 at 08-24-39 2014-12-29 at 08-21-16 2014-12-29 at 07-38-25 2014-12-29 at 08-27-59 I’m totes an Elf with like Galadriel level power..or a Wizard, I’m down to be a Wizard

Paul Costelloe Spring/ Summer 2015

2014-09-12 at 12-02-06 London Fashion Week Day 1 continued

LFW is hectic. Am I the only one that thinks 2-3 outfit changes a day is a little fucking excessive. If you’re going to do it, do it right I guess. Still stressful and unpleasant if you ask me. We headed home to prep for our second show, and I took out all the bells and whistles. After our first show I realized that “less is more” wasn’t in fact a fashion “guideline” the brits were aware of.  So here I am, at the tents, wearing motherfuckin’ cat ears. I felt like a sailor scout, but like in a really good way. The Paul Costelloe presentation was something my vocabulary is not, somewhat elegant. The wonderful classic cuts, timeless prints in unexpected colours, paired with WTF booties and socks, absolutely satisfied my contradicting fashion quota. If there is something Mr. Costelloe knows how to do, it’s add a little spunk to garments you would wear to high tea or even church!…Well you know if you add a shirt under that open blazer.  I featured some photos of my favourite looks from the show taken by my wonderful husband/photographer, Mr. Peter Reid. Two down four shows to go, unless we play hooky to shop and play around London, which *spoiler alert* we did… 2014-09-12 at 12-06-47 2014-09-12 at 12-00-41 2014-09-12 at 12-03-21 2014-09-12 at 12-00-53 2014-09-12 at 12-04-09 2014-09-12 at 12-01-50 2014-09-12 at 12-01-39 2014-09-12 at 12-05-14 2014-09-12 at 12-01-54 2014-09-12 at 12-03-00 2014-09-12 at 12-02-10 2014-09-12 at 12-14-33 2014-09-12 at 12-35-03 2014-09-12 at 12-36-45 2014-09-12 at 12-38-25 2014-09-12 at 12-40-42 2014-09-12 at 12-41-45 2014-09-12 at 12-42-29 2014-09-12 at 12-43-23 2014-09-12 at 12-44-28 2014-09-12 at 12-49-04 2014-09-12 at 12-49-58 Cara Kitty
