Pearly Whites

Montreal, Canada

We are just beginning to enter the chaos that promises to be our moving week, and all that is currently running through my mind is all the little things I’m probably going to forget to do later. Due to this, I fear this blog post’s literary ambitions may suffer, unless you’d like to hear about how I’m planning on post-it-ing every material object in my house, to indicate where it’s going and facilitate moving day. My OCD game has never been stronger, which should serve as a home team advantage.

Also the phrase “when it rains, it pours” has never ringed truer both literally and figuratively. Work and events seems to be piling up almost as much as the homeless denim living on my closet floor, and a short lived monsoon hit us this morning. So ya…Mother Nature needs to go back on her Summer meds because she’s been feeling a little manic thus far.

All that being said, we cannot wait to move into our new house and make it a home, so all this stressing and preparation feels like a small price to pay. If you haven’t seen it yet make sure to check out our condo tour on the channel, to get a glimpse of the calm before the storm I’ve been eagerly referring to. Can’t wait to share it all with you!…but until then feel free to pray for my mental well being.

My Husband is Everything

Miami, Florida

In case you don’t know this about me yet, I’ll preface the post by saying that I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love with my husband . Like the Bella Swan, Twilight, Robert Pattinson sort of creepy obsession. Not only is he the man behind every photo on this site, but he’s the world’s greatest partner in business and most importantly in life. Cue the cheese. So today with our third wedding anniversary approaching and while wearing a very appropriate Prabal Gurung shirt, I thought I would sing his praises to you.

The man I married has a very specific set of skills, just like Liam Neeson, only he has an endless supply of them. Just last night the dude decided he was going to make me sushi for the first time. Don’t fret, no food poisoning will ever occur on his watch even when consuming raw fish, as he is quite literally the best home cook I’ve ever witnessed. The man has technique.  After concocting some Nobu sticky rice, he followed by serving me one piece of nigiri after the other at our kitchen bar as if it were omakase. The hand rolls were pretty bomb too.

In case your jaw isn’t on the floor yet, let me continue listing all the things he is good at. He’s an incredible photographer, master editor, savvy business man, expert do gooder, knowledgable car dude, and is good at every sport, or skill he decides to pick up really. He is a caring daddy to Mickey and Eve, and an even more thoughtful and giving partner. For the past few days he has decided to write me a little hidden love note every time he leaves the house, detailing the reasons why he digs me. Also, he’s given me things I never dared to wish for, like the very bag in this post and the baby blue vintage car of my dreams. I wasn’t kidding when I said he was giving…mama didn’t just mean the adorable priceless things in life.

He accompanies and drives me to things no man should have to do, from manicures to meetings just to spend a bit more time with me. He also always make sure I’m well fed, which is a point of contention in our relationship, but he loves me just the way I am, so sure, fatten me up I don’t care. He indulges me in video games, trips to Disney and Universal and accompanies me to nerd cons just to see me at my happiest. He holds my hand through all the tough moments we face, and loves me in a way every woman should be loved. For that I don’t think he’ll ever be able to understand how truly grateful I am. Did I mention he’s also a total babe?

Peter Reid, you are a hero. I love you.

NYFW Day One

New York, New York

TGIF everyone! This past week has been an absolute whirlwind, literally and figuratively. We spent it in New York for Fashion Week in the snow, wind and rain, and not to sound cliché or anything but…had the absolute time of our lives! Though it wasn’t my first time experiencing NYFW, I never did it quit like this. Usually we attend a couple shows, and events, plan a few meetings while in the city and call it a day. This trip however, it was going to be 5 days, a dozen shows, evening fun with friends, and no time for rest let alone sleep. That’s right kids, I was gonna do it like the pros do.

After missing the Desigual and Nicholas K show (told ya’ I was doing it like the pros), we finally arrived amidst the snowstorm, and I had to get going and ready for the Micheal Costello show. Did I mention the snowstorm. Try to look cute, let alone effortlessly street style cool surrounded by puddles of slush and snowbanks. Not what I had planned for. After I got seated first row across from a Care Bear, my nerves took a back seat and I started feeling like this week was gonna be good. That night was followed by the best tacos of my life at ABC Cocina, and a mediocre night’s rest.

The next day I froze my buns of shooting this very look, before heading to The Standard Grill for a quick lunch before Cushnie et Ochs. Here’s a tip for you. Don’t eat a massive burger with a generous side of fries while wearing lycra-less vintage jeans. Boy did I not feel good. I had my tight pants on, a tall pink pom pom beanie, and leopard of all prints, sitting front row at my most anticipated show of the week, across from some of the most influential people in the industry. If you want to know how to feel out of place kids, this is how you do it!

Events like fashion week can make you feel so very teeny tiny in a sea of incredibly beautiful and talented individuals. What’s important to remember though, is that no two are completely alike, and that it is your skill, your character, and your unadulterated uniqueness, that will get you where you are going. So no matter how many followers, endorsement deals or shiny contracts are sitting across from you at a fashion show, you made it because of your hard work and because you stayed true to who you are. Wow, why did I go all introspective and preachy again. All I’m trying to say is…you do you. No matter, in what field, or what that means to you, because your power is in your individuality and what you bring to the table. Even if like in my case, it’s just butt jokes, a pom pom hat and a good time…Have a beautiful weekend my little chickens!

Twas The Night Before Xmas

2015-11-27 at 17-12-05 Miami, Florida

Merry Christmas Eve my little chickens! I have awoken to a lovely spring weathered day in my husband’s hometown of Kingston this morning, so it ain’t looking much like Christmas, but my bloated ham/turkey belly, is confirming that baby Jesus’ B-day is in fact right around the corner. It may only be the 24th but we have already survived 3 holiday parties and their festive feasts, so me and stuffing are a little too well acquainted by now. Three down one to go! We will be flying off the Miami in the wee hours tomorrow morning to have ourselves a merry little Christmas with my parentals, and I couldn’t be more excited. If i’m not gonna be getting any festive snow here, festive sand will definitely more then make up or it! These photos were shot during our last visit to the sunshine state, where I proudly wore my new Joolz nameplate necklace as the newest addition to their Joolistas club! From Starbucks barista, to new acquaintances, telling any non-francophone my name has always been a daunting task, so this new shiny tool will come in handy for more then simple accessorizing! Now tis time I bid you adieu. Wishing you all health, happiness, and wonderfilled memories on this festive occasion, now I must prepare my stomach for the incoming turkey coming my way…laters bikini bod, was nice knowin’ ya!
