Bigger Fish to Fry

Montreal, Canada

Sometimes it feels inappropriate or out of place to go on living my usual routine and publishing work, when it feels so futile in comparison to the chaos of the world around us. I love what I do and find it brings me joy and serves a purpose bigger then the way the job title shallowly depicts it,  but it’s feeling extra trivial today. So instead of going on a spiel about how cozy I was in my fluffy pink jacket, I ask you to take this time to educate yourself about how you can contribute. Sharing scary headlines on our Facebook feeds, and posting outraged statuses to our friends and followers, is actually a good start. Raising awareness and humanizing these issues is a big part of it, but what else can WE, as individuals, do to help. That’s what I’m doing today and I implore you to do the same. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like feeling powerless to changes that are affecting the people closest to me, so I’m going find a way to get my power back. Until then, remember to always love, and be kind to one another. Anger and hatred is what brought us here in the first place.

Open Festival Season

_W7C5630 Indio, California

The time has come my little chickens! Festival season is in full bloom and I’m here to bombard you with all of it’s wonder and magicalness. We had the lovely pleasure of attending Coachella once again this year, and it truly was a weekend to remember. From epic desert dusks to spotting every fairy featured supermodel I’ve ever dreamed of looking like, it was picturesque to say the least. Because the festival was in fact a three day long event, I will be sharing all three silly #OOTDs I pieced together for the eclectic occasion, and today marks numero uno.

Having knowingly rented a convertible for our time in California, I was partly thrilled and mortified to see my husband roll up in a banana yellow mustang to drive down to the desert. Several hours of sunburns, sandstorms and embarrassment later we finally arrived to the festival, and it was just like I remembered it, but overpopulated with famous people. Last year we attended the second weekend of Coachella, which I guess is less celebrity friendly, as this first weekend seemed to be some sort of convention for people that make me nervous. After spotting Aaron Paul, Daphne Groeneveld, and Zoe Kravitz during my first four minutes on the grounds, I became friendly with the margarita booth and my anxiety seem to subside rather quickly. Here’s the rule, don’t go up to them, and more importantly don’t later have FOMO for not going up to them. We lived by this all weekend long, and had a great time admiring these creatures in their natural habitat. Pretty sure Coachella is more LA than LA is.

I’m not sure if any of you know this, but I quite like food. In fact I booked this Coachella trip, while on day 6 of my 10 day Master Cleanse last year, simply to attend to a grilled cheese craving from one of the festival’s food trucks. When I bit into that sandwich, boy oh boy did I hear the hark angel sing. As for the music, well, we weren’t originally thrilled with the lineup this year, Guns’N’Roses excluded, but we discovered some new folks and danced to some known folks, that made us rethink our original apprehension. From girl grooving to Ellie Goulding, and having a total existential moment during M83, our first night was a Coachelluccess! Ya, let’s forget that “pun” happened. Highlight for me, aside from the grilled cheese, had to be the song I shared with you folks below…K, now go listen to it! Collabo with Malandrino

_W7C4793 Montreal, Cananda

Being able to collaborate with brands you’ve admired and worn through your pre-blogging life is kinda the best part of the job. When I was a young 17 year old lass interning in New York City, I spent an awful lot of time and money at my neighbours place in the Meat Packing District. As you probably have guessed from the not so illusive title of this post, my so called “neighbour” was the Catherine Malandrino store. So when we got a call to cook up something special with this beloved brand, you could say I was kind of excited or whatever.

Last week I had the immense pleasure of previewing Catherine Malandrino’s new jewelry line, created by renowned international jewellers, Delmar. These statement pieces, feature jem stones like black agate, guava quartz, and a touch of diamonds, because god knows those never hurt. I also had the privilege of styling #OOTD’s around my favourite pieces, and pulling from the Malandrino archives from the beautiful and newly rebranded Kast boutique in Montreal. Not a bad day of work if I do say so myself. I fell in love with every piece, from my favourite aquamarine bracelet to CM’s iconic flag dress, and hope you will too! If you don’t…well, you got some deeper seeded issues I simply don’t understand. _W7C4685 _W7C4640 _W7C4711 _W7C4596 _W7C4688 _W7C4649 _W7C4744 _W7C4788 _W7C4893 _W7C4769 _W7C4860 _W7C4891 _W7C4896 _W7C4810 _W7C4931 _W7C4989 _W7C5117 _W7C5099 _W7C5126 _W7C5104 _W7C5133 It’s a three for one this week

My Date With Edgardo

2015-11-17 at 15-52-59 Montreal, Canada

A few weeks ago I invited my mother to join me to meet the incredibly talented Edgardo Osorio, designer of Aquazurra, before his shopping event at Holt Renfrew in Montreal. When you imagine someone with as much success as he has acquired in this relatively short period of time, the last thing you picture is a dashing, gracious, and incredibly young lad, but that is just what Edgardo is. After 10 years in the business at the tender age of 25  he casually started his own footwear brand and has since become a true household name in luxury accessory design. Just to put that in perspective, I am currently 24 years old, have nowhere near 10 years of experience in anything besides maybe binge eating or watching tv, and I certainly have no plans to launch a CC brand of whatever come next year.

With all of the accolades and rapid success you would think Edgardo would be hard to converse with, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I have rarely met a lovelier human being with such a kind demeanour and as much charm and charisma. His smile isn’t hard to look at either, but most importantly his talent is undeniable when looking at his sketches and work. Striking the perfect balance between modern design and impeccable craftsmanship, Edgardo creates stylish yet wearable footwear that adds a slightly sultry edge to any look. Also, his heels are not tear inducing after a day of wear unlike his luxury footwear designing comrades, that shall remain nameless *cough* Louboutin *cough*. All shade aside, I had a truly lovely evening, trying on lovely shoes, with their lovely designer, and look forward to seeing what lovely things he has in store next. Until then I have a new pen pal, that I will definitely contact next time we visit Florence. 2015-11-17 at 15-52-14 2015-11-17 at 15-53-52 2015-11-17 at 15-55-20 2015-11-17 at 15-52-35 2015-11-17 at 15-54-30 2015-11-17 at 15-53-12 2015-11-17 at 15-57-25 2015-11-17 at 15-57-44 2015-11-17 at 15-55-13 2015-11-17 at 15-55-41 2015-11-17 at 17-13-48 2015-11-17 at 17-13-05 2015-11-17 at 17-15-02 2015-11-17 at 17-15-25 2015-11-17 at 17-10-11 2015-11-17 at 17-17-12 2015-11-17 at 17-29-28 2015-11-17 at 17-06-32 2015-11-17 at 17-18-55 2015-11-17 at 17-28-55 2015-11-17 at 17-30-00 2015-11-17 at 17-47-34 2015-11-18 at 10-33-00 2015-11-17 at 15-55-49 Monochrome is my jam
