Ferrari Challenge
Montreal, Canada
What can I say, I have the need, the need for speed! This past Grand Prix weekend we had the immense pleasure to be invited by Ferrari, to come visit their paddock and live the full Ferrari Challenge experience during the Montreal Grand Prix at Circuit Gille Villeneuve. The Ferrari Challenge was one that was immediately familiar to me, as growing up, my friend Olivia and I would run around this same paddock, as her father was one of the participating drivers. It's an incredible race, I was so thrilled to be back around these insane vehicles and the race day tension and excitement. There's nothing quite like it.
These Ferrari 488s are monster machines, going up to speeds of 200mph. You forget how mindbogglingly fast that is, until you feel your heart skip a beat from the sound and vibration they produce while rushing past you, inches away from pit lane. It's an incredibly volatile race in the best sense of the word. With 45 drivers on the roster all aiming for top spot. Positions are constantly changing, and you never know what surprises might be in store. It's truly a spectacular show!
We were lucky enough to live the full immersive challenge experience. Rolling out from the paddock with the cars, racing down the track in golf carts on our way to pit lane, oh ya, and did I mention we got to watch the races from pit lane?! Being a race car fanatic's wife I knew this area to be sacred, and never thought I would ever have the honour of walking past the pits, let alone be one of the few to watch the race inches away of the starting line. You also never know who you might see down this stretch of road. Micheal Fassbender being one of the drivers, James Marsden casually visiting the pits, and let's not mention the single tear that might have come down my husband's cheek after shaking Niki Lauda's hand.
It was truly a bucket list experience, and I was so grateful to be able to share it with Peter by my side. Watching him in this environment was probably similar to taking your kid to Disneyland for the first time...you know, if Disneyland was so exclusive that you couldn't visit unless you were an actual Disney character. It was so surreal and we could not be more thankful to Patricia, and Tatiana from the Zoi team for facilitating, and Jeffrey from Ferrari for showing us the ropes and the incredible access that was granted to us during this unforgettable day. Truly one for the books.
